It is almost time for the start of Senior Year for the graduating class of 2018
and big things are about to happen!
From finishing up those credits needed to graduate to filling out scholarship applications and applying for college, this year is a very busy and important time in a High School Senior's life! You are becoming an adult and preparing to spread your wings and leave the nest which is exciting, but at the same time can be a little scary and intimidating.
I KNOW! I HAVE BEEN THERE! Let me tell you, my Senior year in high school was awesome, exhausting, nerve-wrecking, exciting, filled with happiness, sad at times, and flew by in a flash! There is so much to do from having senior photos taken, ordering graduation gowns, caps, and announcements, purchasing your class ring (if you haven't done that yet), getting ready for prom to preparing for college!
Students and Parents......can I give you some advice?
Step-back, breathe, relax, don't sweat the small stuff and enjoy each moment. This is one of the most memorable and enjoyable times in your young adult life and I would be honored to help capture those special memories for you! From your senior photos, announcements and prom to any other activities or special moments you would like to have as keepsakes (such as sports, events, awards, accomplishments or maybe even just a best friend photo shoot!).I promise, you will never regret documenting these moments. Besides.........why would you spend all that time, energy and money on these moments if you didn't have documentation to remember them in the years to come?
To many times I have seen High School Seniors (especially the young men) think that photos are not important or a big deal. They choose not to have a senior photo session and later regret it. Guys.......it is just as important for you to document your special memories and your becoming an adult as it is for your female classmates, and can even be fun for you, I promise! Also, to many times I see parents and students spend much time, energy and invest a ton of money in class rings, prom dresses, sports equiptment, etc and never invest in professional photographic memories so that they have something to show for that investment! Senior year photos mark a milestone that can only be documented at that point in your lifetime. There are no accurate recreations later! I still have copies of all of my classmates senior photos (wish I had more moments documented of my awards, achievements, activities, fun times with friends and accomplishments) in my hope chest and occasionally reminisce and look through them with my husband or friends and I graduated in 1999! LOL, I know, I'm old!
These are memories of people that I spent many years with (kindergarten through senior year 8 hours a day, 5 days a week......that's more than most kids see their own families!) and these people were and still are very important to me. My classmates were like family to me, almost like brothers and sisters I grew up with daily! This is an often overlooked group of individuals in our lives that are considered important and which we would definitely want to remember in ten to twenty years. Even though we may not be as close as we once were, many of us still keep in contact and the memories we share are treasured!
Sometimes looking back at a classmates photo will bring back memories of good times I otherwise may not have thought about at all. It takes me back in time to a moment and allows me to relive or remember something that was important to me and at that point I can usually see the significance of the situation. Whether it be a hard lesson learned, experiencing something new, engaging in social events, learning a new skill, developing new ideas, meeting a goal or any other moment during that time, when I look back at photographs during my senior year (or my life in general), there are often things I learn, never realized, or understand that I didn't at that point in my life. It is amazing to me that one simple photo can change someone's life. That photo may affect many more people and generations than you will ever know.
So........when you think about how you want to document your Senior year, think about this: Do you want an average photographer who just takes your photos and you get whatever get, or do you want a professional who involves themselves in what your vision is for documenting your Senior year? Someone who cares and understands the importance of each and every photograph and how special they will be to you? A photographer who just takes your senior photos or one that develops a professional relationship with you and may in fact end up documenting many things throughout your life such as prom, graduation, sports events, college moments, achievements, and eventually your wedding and family as it continues to grow.
Having a professional photographer in your life that you can call on for special events and moments and know that you can trust them to be there for you is very important! That is exactly the type of photographer I am to my clients. I do my absolute best to accommodate all my clients for their photography needs and make a wide range of products available for their printing requests.
